Slap bang in the centre of Cardiff, Cardiff Castle is remarkably peaceful behind it’s towering walls and also as it faces onto Bute Park, one of the largest urban parks in any British city. That central location makes transport links and accommodation only a stone’s throw away, so all your guests arrive in good spirits.
Cardiff Castle also offers one of the largest wedding venue sites in Wales, the area within the walls is enormous. You get a choice of rooms to hire that can cater for between 30 and 150 people, and I know from regularly talking to my clients just how important the number of people a venue can cater for is to you.
You can choose from several rooms for the wedding service from the tiny (but romantic) Guest Tower that will only take 30 people including your photographer, to the ever popular Undercroft which caters for up to 100 people. In between the other options are the astonishing mediaeval fantasy Banqueting Hall (100 people) and the Drawing Room (50 guests). In addition there is the new Interpretation Centre, nestling under the castle walls, which can cater for 150 guests for wedding breakfasts.
Like most public venues it has to be remembered that you will be sharing the grounds with visitors to the castle, but after closing time you have your own private castle for the evening! There’s a great variety of locations for some lovely wedding photography, huge lawns below the Keep make for a great spot for friends and family groups as well as for the bride and groom, plus there’s the wall themselves with fine views over Cardiff or the castle and some more intimate areas with trees for those more romantic moments.
